Lindsay Rugby Football Club Development Fund
One of the challenges faced by all amateur sport is getting the athletes on the playing field. Traditionally, one of the barriers has been that families and individuals must make choices between where to allocate the limited resources they have and in many cases the choice to be involved in organized sport takes a lower priority than food, shelter and other demands.
We want as many people to be involved in the sport of rugby as possible, because it is a great sport with a sense of community. We also want to improve rugby in Canada and improve Canada on the world rugby fields. Developing more players at the grass roots level has an impact at the National level. As more people become involved, the amount of resources input into the sport also increases. Players will be better, more-skilled athletes, who will strengthen the game at all levels domestically. By having better rugby players at the regional levels, there will be a bigger and more talented pool of players for selectors to choose from at the National level. This pool will aid in Rugby Canada’s vision of putting all of our National Teams back into the top 10 in the world.
With that vision in mind, the Lindsay Rugby Football Club (LRFC) has created a development fund to assist athletes participate in the game of rugby, whether it be at the Club, Provincial, National or International level.
This fund has been started through seed money generated by fundraising and it is the intent of the LRFC to continue to raise funds to supplement and replenish the fund, so that the money can be used to support players for many years to come.
If you are an athlete, or parent of an athlete, who needs assistance to be involved in rugby, please complete the application below and submit to:
