The following is an overview from our President Rob Brouwer regarding the Annual General Meeting and the upcoming season.
I would just like to thank everyone that attended the AGM this year. Last year was an exciting time to be part of the Lindsay Rugby Club and the 2016 season looks to be even more enticing.

Lindsay continues to be a rugby factory and is providing many a players to the university and college sides around the province, the provincial team, as well as the national team. This year we are expecting two summer touring sides to be coming in-one from Wales, and for the first time ever, a women’s touring side from Ireland.

May 10th,1933 – November 1, 2015
The Lindsay Rugby Football Club, lost one of its longest serving members on November 1st 2015. Alan was born in Halifax, Yorkshire England and came to Canada with his wife Janet in 1954. His love of sport stayed with him all of his life and this led him into becoming a founding member of the Lindsay Rugby Football Club Inc. in 1978.
In the years to follow Alan spent many hours playing, working, supporting and encouraging others to appreciate the game of rugby. Alan did a lot of work developing the field and clubhouse at Greenway Park, home of Lindsay Rugby since the year 2000 when we purchased the “Old Wagon Wheel” (formerly a Chicken Coop) and help develop it to what it is today.
Alan’s health began to fail and signs of dementia increased so that his last years were spent in Caressent home facility where he passed away on November 1st.2015.
A Celebration of his Life was held at the Lindsay Rugby Football Club on November 15th. 2015 with many former and present Rugby Players remembering the many years of rugby associated with Alan’s life.

As a member of LRFC you have already signed a code of conduct agreement when you joined. You will also note that the club has posted the code around the grounds, you are given a copy of them upon arrival at the car park and there is a club representative at all home days for all teams. There is a process in place to ensure that all matches are played within the laws of rugby and that our teams are not penalized for spectator behavior. This is a very hot topic with referees from last season and it is clear from the message below that it is already an issue this season.
Please, we ask that all attending the club this season help the club reps have incident free days and ensure that the atmosphere at all games is one of friendly competition and enjoyment of our great game and that it not marred by behavior issues either on the pitch or from the sidelines.
Thank you for your attention to this. Here is a link to the 2014 Game Regulations from Toronto Rugby.

No team came out winners from Lindsay yesterday. Pagans had their way with all three teams. Mens 1 was a tight matchup, and was going either way. Lindsay did seem to have the run of things, offloading and then scoring well, the errors slipped in at crucial moments and three Pagan tries were as a result of interceptions in the hand off. Second half not as crisp as the first half, first warm day and not all match fit was beginning to add up. Read More →

Sunday is our night for Bingo Bingo to support the junior programmes at the club. As a revenue generation, it has been the mainstay of the juniors but is in decline. We need to support Bingo, so consider once or twice this season to get a group of friends together and go to Bingo Bingo on a Sunday. See our calendar here.
