May 10th,1933 – November 1, 2015
The Lindsay Rugby Football Club, lost one of its longest serving members on November 1st 2015. Alan was born in Halifax, Yorkshire England and came to Canada with his wife Janet in 1954. His love of sport stayed with him all of his life and this led him into becoming a founding member of the Lindsay Rugby Football Club Inc. in 1978.
In the years to follow Alan spent many hours playing, working, supporting and encouraging others to appreciate the game of rugby. Alan did a lot of work developing the field and clubhouse at Greenway Park, home of Lindsay Rugby since the year 2000 when we purchased the “Old Wagon Wheel” (formerly a Chicken Coop) and help develop it to what it is today.
Alan’s health began to fail and signs of dementia increased so that his last years were spent in Caressent home facility where he passed away on November 1st.2015.
A Celebration of his Life was held at the Lindsay Rugby Football Club on November 15th. 2015 with many former and present Rugby Players remembering the many years of rugby associated with Alan’s life.
